Chantal's Pique-Assiette Mosaic

Allison collected remnants in the rubble of her parents home where they lived for 42 years. Mosaic artist Chantal Vogel created this very creative pique-assiette mosaic with the salvaged pieces.  It was a tearful and joyful moment when Allison surprised her mom with this gift that Chantal made. 

Chantal makes amazing mosaics and is a very inspiring person! We will be collaborating more in the future and I am truly grateful for her involvement on this project.

Coffey Park Unity Mosaic Project

I met up with the folks who are organizing the Coffey Park Unity Mosaic Project this morning to start collaborating. It feels surreal to be in the fire zones but great to see community coming together. They set up coffee & other goodies here on Saturday mornings for residents to connect.

Mosaic Workshop With Fire Remnants





15 Santa Rosa residents who lost houses in the 2017 fires brought remnants that they salvaged from their properties to the Graton Community Club and made their own mosaics.

Barbara was able to make a new Christmas tray from the Christmas china that they salvaged.

Tiffany made a stepping stone with the remnants of a terra cotta vase that had a beautiful floral pattern.

Doug made a phoenix and Sherinne made a tree scene.




Dale's Colorful Wall Art
Dale recovered terra cotta pieces and made this vibrant piece. She loved the symbolism of using charcoal colored grout.





Janet's Melted Wine Glass
Janet used the stem of a melted wine glass and also featured more shapes made with melted glass at the bottom of the mosaic.
